About Me

“The Bitch” was born and raised in southeastern Indiana and spent most of her life on a farm. Although never taking an interest in cooking or food as a youth, except just as a means to get her empty stomach filled with something good, she was influenced by all the cooking done by her mother, aunt, and grandmothers with fresh ingredients, sometimes from their own gardens.

In college, she met someone from the Middle East who lit the flame of passion for cooking inside her by feeding her with exotic foods and spices from his country. Soon she was buying cookbooks, experimenting with different ingredients, making meals and even entertaining. She started spending a lot of time on cooking websites looking up recipes. Her cooking became well known among her friends and soon by her family who were surprised by her sudden culinary interest.

Now living in Illinois, in the Chicago area and married, she spends her free time cooking for husband and friends. The “bitchiness” comes from the attitude that all food and its ingredients should be fresh and nothing less should ever be settled for. If that means shopping at your local farmers market or growing and canning your own, then it must be done! If your meal in a restaurant is mediocre, return it!
She believes that all meals must be good ones, as they are not just a means for nourishing the body and soul, but also for bringing friends and families together, whether you are the cook, or are being cooked for.

Heather hopes that by spending time at this site, you also will develop an interest in cooking, and if you are already cooking, have the confidence and attitude to expand your repertoire and try new things from time to time. Also she hopes that you will not be afraid to comment on her recipes and stories, or offer up any ideas or suggestions for improvements.
